family-run, nurturing and fun Breakfast & After School Club caring for primary school-aged children (4-11 years) since 2004. Initially set up by Sheila to offer families affordable childcare outside of the ‘normal’ 9 to 3 school day with a safe, flexible and fun setting. The club has expanded over the years as demand has increased, now serving six schools across the Hitchin area based at three different clubs within school sites.
We strive to create a welcoming, safe and stimulating environment that promotes children’s welfare, learning and development in a fun, play-based setting; incorporating children’s individual needs, current interests and feedback to ensure they feel secure and supported to develop, thrive and have fun.
The Cookie Club follows legislation and guidelines set by the Department for Education and local authorities, and is regularly inspected by Ofsted. This ensures we provide a safe, fun and caring environment in which children feel secure and nurtured, and that all required legislation and regulations are met.
About the Club
What we offer
We provide a welcoming, friendly environment for all families, so that they can rest assured children are safe and having fun, developing their knowledge and skills, and making friends. Our clubs follow the Playwork Principles, so children are free to choose activities and resources as they wish. There is always a wide selection of activities and resources available, including craft, games, construction, messy / sensory play, investigative play, technology, cookery and reading. We also help children with any reading or homework they might have from school. In addition, other resources are available for the children to select from, alongside access to our outdoor spaces.
After School Club begins when the children are collected from school. A small snack is offered on arrival, and then a range of activities are made available to choose from. A light tea is served between 4:30 pm and 4:45pm from our seasonal menu. Drinking water is on offer throughout the sessions. After tea, children are encouraged to get stuck in to more games and activities until they are collected.
